So many photos to share...I'll let them tell the story...
My first exciting discovery in the Chicago airport--automatic toilet seat covers!
It was very futuristic! (I still didn't trust them to sit on the seat, but thought it was worthy of a photo).
After two long flights, we arrived in San Francisco around 6pm. I tried to control my queasy stomach through all the hills on the shuttle ride on the way to the hotel! I had many car sicky moments on our trip, but managed to not vomit. Go me!
We unloaded at the hotel & headed down Fisherman's Wharf to check things out. Our first stop--Boudin's Bakery. The yummiest smelling bread ever. The picture doesn't pick out all the details in the bread, but the bread behind me was a giant crocodile & little crabs. Carbs and sea creatures...super fun!
We plopped ourselves down at the Hard Rock Cafe for a late supper. We were beyond starving. We quickly learned that the prices in San Francisco were on the high side. A simple dinner ran about $80 that night.
We opted for a typical tourist photo on the way back to our hotel.
As exhausted as we were from flying all day, Matt & I had a very tough time sleeping that night & we were up ready for the day around 6am! Our bodies weren't used to the three hour time change yet.
We caught breakfast a few blocks away then headed to our "Hop on Hop off" tour bus. We were so glad we decided to take the bus, because we were able to see a little of everything throughout the city.
Its hard to tell in the picture below, but the roads were SO steep. Despite the fact that we were on a tour bus for most of the day, we definitely got our exercise as well. You'll see in a minute...
This street sign was worthy of a picture. Made me think of Dad, which then made me think of my Connor Scott. Good name :)

We took the tour bus over the bridge, hopped off, and walked the bridge on the way back. The sights were amazing. Alcatraz, a beautiful skyline, and sea lions were among the cool views. You just had to make sure you paid attention to people on the bridge--almost got hit by a biker a time or two.
We had fun grabbing random strangers to take our pictures throughout our trip. I tried to scope out people that spoke English. It was a fun challenge at times!
After our 1.7 mile walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, we hopped back on our bus & stopped on Lombard Street. We apparently didn't find the bridge to be much of a walking challenge, so we hiked up this crazy street (known for its steep roads & curves). This was around 2:00pm and I was beyond starving. I did my best to not be crabby at this point. I pretended that there was a burger that the top of the hill & kept chugging along!
The cars parked on this road looked like they'd just roll over. It was ridiculously steep.
When we reached the top, we explored one of the curviest roads ever. You really couldn't get a good picture unless you were up a few stories, but trust me, it was curvey!
We headed to the bottom to get a picture & watch the cars drive down carefully.
Then we headed back up the countless stairs. If this photo had sound, you could hear my stomach growling for food at this point.
We headed on over to Chinatown for lunch (sorry no pictures from there). Service was wonderful & I was refueled with a belly full of food! We headed back to the hotel to clean up, chill out, and wait for supper time.
Since neither one of us are seafood eaters, it made it hard to find a restaurant we were in the mood for on the water. Rainforest Cafe caught our attention, so thats where we headed.
Although our bodies were telling us it was really late, it was only about 7:30pm by the time we left supper. We strolled the streets & found a cute little beachy restaurant that had fireside beach chairs. We plopped ourselves in a chair, ordered a few drinks, and spent the next few hours there! We met a wonderful couple from England and chatted with them for a while. I loved listening to their lingo & using words like "rubbish."
On Thursday, we woke STOKED. It was game day, baby! We had the first half of the day for shopping, so we headed down to Union Square to explore stores like Urban Outfitters, Forever21, and H&M. They had just opened Target in the city the week before, so we had to go!! I was on a mission to get a Cars toy for Connor. **When we told Connor we were going to California, Connor immediately asked if we were going to see Mater. We went along with it and told him we were going to visit Mater, so I wanted to bring a 'gift' home for Connor from his buddy, Mater.**
We actually lucked out & found a Disney Store too, so we had a few gifts from Mater to give Connor when we got home. It was a fun mission!
We planned out getting a taxi to the game early enough in the afternoon, so we'd have time to check out the stadium & giftshop pregame. We came to learn that no matter if you call & request a taxi or not, they will not pick you up if you're in game attire. We came to learn that cabs in San Francisco make more money puting people around the city than driving them through traffic to the stadium. Since Matt & I were decked out in our finest 49ers wear, the cabs wouldn't take us. We were starting to panic on if we would make the game on time, but we found a chauffeur that would take us for a flat fee. We gladly accepted & made it to the game with about 10 minutes to stare!
The 49ers won, so it was awesome!!
On our last day in the city, we took a tour bus to Muir Woods & Sausalito for the day. On our way there, we stopped at the bridge again to check it out in the famous San Francisco fog (which was more like spitting rain...NOT good hair weather)!
The Woods were pretty darn cool. I was making fun of Matt for taking pictures of e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
We agreed Sausalito was a pretty area, but we were bored pretty quickly. We explored for a bit, then caught the ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf.
We stayed up til about 12:30am that night at one of the best little Irish Pubs. The live music was awesome (he sounded just like James Taylor), so we enjoyed our last night there! We got about 3 hours of sleep, because our alarm sounded around 3:30am to catch our shuttle to the airport.
We're back home, getting settled in, and have many fond memories from the past few weeks!
